It is still in good condition and works very well. (has minor scratches and blemishes, see photos) They are very sturdy and we found them to be a very comfortable fit for the ear.  The frequency response of the earphones is excellent, and they work well in any room anywhere up to about (20 feet x 20 feet) from the base unit, with no problem.  They interface well to most stereo systems via standard RCA type jacks and common audio cables. They have a heavy duty power supply unit, upon which you can mount the infrared transmitter unit. (The IR transmitter does not need to rest on top of this unit, but can be located up to about six feet away.) The IR transmit unit  (the standing tubular structure) has a number of IR elements, and this makes the unit work well at various angels in our experience. This Sony IR system DOES NOT  use BlueTooth, Wi-Fi or any other wireless transmissions that can be easily picked up by nearby wireless receivers.  It uses  line of sight infrared rays that are confined to the area of a room in your home, and will not transmit your audio to other neighbors or out over the Internet for all to intercept.<br>This unit was an era when Internet, WI-Fi and Bluetooth were not available. The headphone unit is powered by inserting 1ea AA battery in each side of the left and right ear supports below the red IR sensor. Unlatch the door at the end and insert each battery. See Photos. (Batteries are not included with this offer; a quality alkaline battery is recommended.)<br>Please see photos for condition. A dual RCA to RCA grey audio cable pair, shown in one photo, connects the base unit to your stereo outputs.  [Bonus: an additional RCA Stereo Female to Male 3.5 mm adapter is included so, if need be, you can plug the RCA cable plugs into devices that have the 3.5mm stereo jack. (This adapter is not original equipment) Adapter is shown in the photo with the 12 foot RCA to RCA grey stereo cable.
